“Synesthesis - Involving sense of smell, touch, sound, well-being. Predominant experience was of being quite "removed" from one's life and being beautifully served by a gentle, quiet expert. It was raining. The light was dim. Sappho was moving quietly above and in the background the stones made their quiet sounds. Then there was the pungent and delicate fragrance of the oil, the feeling of the oil itself, and in combination with the massaging hands and the smooth, hot stones. Stones were moved along my limbs and then left on my feet, in my hands. I drifted, listening to the rain.!”

“I have taken both a Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga with Sappho. I think it is possibly the best thing I could have done for myself to both prepare and recover from having a baby. Sappho has a terrific approach to teaching. She keeps her classes interesting and just challenging enough to make you feel like you've accomplished something by the end. She also gives a wonderful massage!”

“I had Sappho for 3 terms (6 months) of Prenatal Yoga. She not only helped me learn more about Yoga but she also helped me prepare for the birth of my baby. Physically, she encouraged exercises to aid in an active birth process, like squats. Emotionally, she facilitated focus and relaxation, like carefully choosing music and readings to share. Also, over the time that I got to know her Sappho showed her kind nature by being gentle, caring and always having a smile to share.”

Prenatal Yoga with Sappho was my first introduction to the world of Yoga. I had decided early in my pregnancy that I would be taking a pharmaceutically assisted approach to delivery. Despite meeting many classmates throughout my 7 months of prenatal Yoga who were taking the natural approach, I never once changed my mind. Seven months of stretching and learning to relax my body had a substantial impact on my childbirth experience, which involved a very limited use of drugs. I told all my friends that it was Sappho and her Yoga class that helped me through. Six weeks after my son was born, we began Post Natal Yoga, which in my opinion is almost if not more important than prenatal Yoga. Carrying a baby, their car seat and a diaper bag presents physical challenges to your body that only a well balanced Yoga class can alleviate. Post Natal Yoga was a fun way for my son and I to meet other Moms and at the same time incorporate physical fitness into our days.
I leave my son at home now ( with his Dad ) and enjoy
Multilevel Yoga classes with Sappho. The environment is comfortable and relaxing, and Sappho's gentle approach to instruction leaves no one feeling uncoordinated at the end of the day.”

“The THerapeutic Stone experience was a mutual honoring of the elements of heat, stone, oil, skin (and deeper tissues), and breath. Very in Body and out of Body - disorienting in a refreshing way. Very grounding.

“I don't think I could have gotten through my pregnancy without Sappho’s help in both yoga and massage. Although I didn't have a "difficult" pregnancy, it was a painful one. The combination of yoga and massage helped me to deal with the pain in my hips and back, so that life was bearable. Thank you, Sappho for helping me bring my precious girl into the world.”

“I took the Prenatal Yoga throughout my whole pregnancy and it was so helpful because it encouraged relaxation and time for myself. I encountered few aches or pains due to pregnancy and I know that Yoga helped with that a lot. I loved the Postnatal Yoga classes because it was the first exercise I started doing after the birth of my daughter having my baby. I felt great! I also loved meeting other moms in the class. It was a great way to get out of the house and take care of my body’s needs. The Multilevel Yoga classes are amazing because I am able to focus on my body and I always leave feeling re-energized and great! This class, I believe, has helped me to grow and expand my Yoga practice.”

“I have had the pleasure of enjoying both Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga with Sappho. It is a wonderful outlet and a great tool to help with the stress of pregnancy and after birth. My husband and I have also participated in the Multilevel Yoga class and it proved to be a great connector for us as a couple. We even practiced together outside of class. I have also treated myself to a Swedish Relaxation Massage, and will say that Sappho is an excellent therapist as she truly listens to her clients' needs.”

“I have participated in Sappho's Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga classes. Both classes provided yoga postures suited to my condition at the time. Sappho is an excellent instructor who is able to provide individual attention and yet manage a group class. She not only has the expertise with which to teach but a calming presence which is ever so important in mind and body exercise. She makes yoga a relaxing yet challenging experience and most important, fun and enjoyable.”

“I enrolled in Sappho's Prenatal Yoga when I was 5 weeks pregnant, and continued to take the class right up until about 2 weeks before my due date. The classes were excellent. Sappho was very thorough in ensuring our comfort and safety, while teaching us several different poses to strengthen and prepare our bodies for labour and delivery. My labour and delivery involved 4 hours of strenuous pushing. My doctor said she was amazed at what good shape I was in, especially when it came to pushing in the "squatting position". I have Sappho to thank for that! I also had several Prenatal Massages with Sappho close to the end of my pregnancy and she was able to make the entire experience very relaxing and therapeutic at the same time. I would recommend this to all pregnant women!”

“The combination of Prenatal Yoga and Prenatal Massage with Sappho was a lifesaver during my pregnancy. Emotionally, the 2 therapies helped me deal with the anxiety of my first pregnancy and manage some complications that arose during my nine months. Physically they worked to prevent much of the physical discomforts, such as backache and reduced mobility. Besides, when else in life can you truly give yourself permission to pamper your mind and body for a whole nine months! “

“Sappho is great! Sappho taught my Prenatal Yoga course. She is an excellent teacher – both patient and encouraging. She even provided us with practice notes to review at home so we wouldn't forget what we had learned. Prenatal yoga helped me to relax and get in touch with my body prior to delivery. I liked Sappho so much that I also received Prenatal Massage from her. I was very nervous about labour and carried my stress through my neck and shoulders and I was also diagnosed with carpel tunnel syndrome in my last trimester. During the last six weeks of my pregnancy I received weekly massage and was relieved of the knots in my shoulders and neck, and arms. I would highly recommend Sappho's Prenatal yoga classes and Prenatal massage.”

“I was very large during my last pregnancy carrying a large baby with extra amniotic fluid while running after an active toddler at home. Sappho's massage and yoga classes were the only thing that kept the discomfort to a minimum and gave me a much needed break physically and mentally. Her experience with pregnant women gave me a lot of comfort that I was in good hands.”

“I have had the good fortune of experiencing Sappho's many talents on several levels. I had been curious about yoga and when I was pregnant signed up for 10 sessions. I learned to relax, stretch and breathe among other things, all of which were helpful to my particular birthing process. I also went for several Massages before the delivery of my baby and highly recommended this to all of my friends, pregnant or not! I continued on with the yoga and the massages after the birth of my baby. It was wonderful to interact with other moms and their infants at the Postnatal Yoga classes, as well as getting some tone back into my over-stretched muscles. Again, I cannot say enough about the healing power of massage, mentally and physically. Finally, I enrolled in a Multilevel Yoga class and attended without my baby. This turned out to be my only break from my baby and it was a great place to come to breathe, stretch and relax--just to take a break. Sappho has been very helpful through this new motherhood journey of mine and I appreciate every thing she has done for me! THANKS SAPPHO!!!”
