My studies in Hatha Yoga began on the West coast in 1990. In 2001, I earned certification with the Yoga Centre of Calgary and am currently certified through the Yoga Association of Alberta.Since 1999, I have taught throughout the Calgary area including prenatal classes with The Calgary Health Region, The City of Calgary, The Yoga Centre of Calgary, and The Yoga Studio. I have conducted Beginner, Multi-level, Therapeutic, Pre and Postnatal and Children’s classes at various places including The University of Calgary , The Glenbow Museum, The Tuscany Club and Chestermere Community Association. Studies with both senior local instructors and international teachers are an integral part of my personal practice and inform and refresh what I bring to my classes. My Massage Therapy training took place at Mount Royal College’s Centre for Complementary Health. I am a registered practitioner in Alberta with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada. The focus in my treatments is to both relax the soft tissues and employ therapeutic techniques to release adhesions in the body. I am also trained in Thai Massage and Hot/Cool Stone Therapy. My certification for Thai massage was received with Meridian Thai Massage Therapy and the Stone training took place at Stone Therapy School.
Currently, I am a Registered Nurse
and work in community health at the Sexual and Reproductive health clinic . Previous post-secondary studies include a BA
in Law & Society and in 1998, I completed
a Masters Degree in Religious Studies, Nature of Religion at the U of C. The focus of my studies was the role of the feminine in various religious traditions and understand women's contributions to the religious and spiritual traditions.
My thesis work explored the differences and similarities between aesthetic and religious experience, citing the poetry of Leonard
Cohen.
